FY24 Defense Appropriation Summary

Congress passes appropriation a year after budget request submitted and six months into the fiscal year.

Congressional appropriators finally released the FY24 Defense Appropriations Act as part of the second mini-bus with other bills. Congress took over a year - 374 days from the time the DoD released the FY24 budget. They released the final appropriations bill 172 days into FY24, or 47% through the FY. This delay cost the DoD tens of billions of dollars and massive risks across the DoD and industry.
